Today is Canada Day! I am a proud Canadian, and love Canada Day!
As Canadians, we are patriotic, although around the world it’s not that known. We all know Americans are, and when I was young, I wished Canadians were more patriotic. But as I got older, I learned that we truly are. Go ahead say something negative about Canada or Canadians around a Canadian, and you will see us go from sweet and polite to fired up in a 1 second time frame! We are just more quietly patriotic. We may not have our flags up all year, but on Canada Day you will see how patriotic we are.

Size of Canada: 9,984,670 sq. km, 3,855,103 sq. mi. Canada is the second largest country in the world, behind Russia. And we have Provinces and Territories, not States.
Our National flag is known as the Maple Leaf, and you can see a picture of it at the top.
We have a Prime Minister, and our current Prime Minister’s name is Stephen Harper.
Tim Horton’s started in Canada, and we love it.
The border between Canada and the United States is officially known as the International Boundary, and is the world’s longest border between 2 nations at 5,525 miles.
Canadians invented some awesome things that people use all the time: Kerosene, the electron microscope, the electronic organ, insulin, the IMAX film system, the snowmobile, and the electric cooking range.
Winnie the Pooh was inspired by a black bear cub from Canada named Winnipeg or “Winnie,” for short.
Barenaked Ladies are Canadian, and were hugely popular here before the rest of the world discovered them.
Poutine is a favourite Canadian food, and is French Fries covered with gravy and cheese curds. And is awesomely delish!!
While it is commonly known that Ice Hockey is the national sport of Canada, that only became true in 1994. It actually joined Lacrosse as the national sport. So we now have 2 national sports.
